Under the Vice-rector for Partnerships and International Relations, the International Relations Office is responsible for developing and coordinating the international relations and activities of the University of Luxembourg. This involves providing support and feedback to the University management on international issues and concluding international agreements. Key tasks of the Office include, but are not limited to, preparing and assessing agreements with international partner universities, administering and promoting Erasmus+ mobility projects, leading digitalisation projects relative to Erasmus+ mobility, administering and promoting staff mobility, coordinating international visits to and from the University, promoting international opportunities for students and staff members, coordinating the EURAXESS Luxembourg network and hosting the initiatives of the University of the Greater Region.

As team leader of the International Relations Office (IRO), you will coordinate the activities of a team of about 14 International Relations Officers and you will report directly to the Vice-rector for Partnerships and International Relations. Your Role...
  • Support the development and drive the implementation of the University’s internationalisation endeavour
  • With the Vice-rector for Partnerships and International Relations, drive the University’s strategic partnerships (national and international) and oversee their development and implementation
  • Co-construct with the three faculties a “hub and spoke” network and define efficient processes linked to internationalisation activities that facilitate student and academic staff mobility
  • Establish regular exchanges with all entities and relevant central services to ensure a dynamic student and academic staff mobility
  • Provide expert advice and support to the University management on international issues
  • Provide expert advice and scrutinize international agreements and project applications
  • Prospect additional external funding, notably from Erasmus+ and nationally, to increase mobility and training offer to master students, doctoral candidates, and staff.
  • Address complex issues considering the University of Luxembourg constraints and regulations, analyse demands from various stakeholders, and propose solutions
  • Restructure the organisation of the IRO, develop its communication plan, and sets its objectives with the VRP to optimise its mission, performance, and visibility
  • Elaborate and implement the annual planning and budget of the IRO
  • Lead the team, sets its yearly and long-term objectives, and facilitate the professional development of staff
  • With the Vice-rector for Partnerships and International Relations, welcome international visitors and coordinate international missions from and to the University of Luxembourg
  • Manage current relationships and foster new contacts with partner universities, embassies and other external stakeholders
  • Represent the University at external functions, where appropriate

What we expect from you…
  • Academic degree at Master’s level in an area relevant for the position
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in the field of international collaboration
  • At least three years of professional experiences in a managing role
  • Knowledge of the Luxembourg higher education and research sector is an asset
  • Experience in the internationalisation of Higher Education frameworks and Erasmus+ funding schemes is an asset
  • Proficiency in English and French, German and/or Luxembourgish are an asset
  • Leadership, team spirit and coordination skills
  • Problem-solving, results-oriented attitude
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Tact, diplomacy, empathy and resilience
