The EIB, the European Unions bank, is seeking to recruit for its Chief Financial Controller Directorate (CFC) - Financial Reporting and Accounting Department (FRA) - Bank Reporting Division (BR) - Treasury & Funding Accounting Unit (TFAU), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 01st September/October 2024)

Objective of the traineeship

As a trainee, your role will be linked to different accounting projects to be implemented in Chief Financial Controller Directorate where you will assist the CFC officer in charge, providing accounting support and enhancing the control framework as per indications. Inter alia the projects in which you will be involved are:

  • Fine tuning of a dual ledger in the Enterprise resources planning (ERP) after the beginning and deployment of the execution phase
  • Support in the oversight and fine tuning of the automated solution for ECL for treasury, securitization and lending financial assets
  • Internal control framework enhancement and update
  • Support in the implementation of the hedge accounting activities (cash flow hedge, fair value hedge) including new support for new strategies of hedge accounting or economic hedges.
  • Support and development of the solution aimed at the automation of the consolidated financial statements and related disclosure.
  • Support in the Highly Accurate Data for Exposure Situation project aimed at the rationalization of the exposures definition and migration Data Ware House (DWH) projects aimed at the modernization and implementation of new data in the DWH Universes.
  • Support in the enhancement of the process and procedures aimed at the production of specific
  • Support in implementing the new project regarding data governance and data ownership.
  • Support in the further development of the EU GAAP and IFRS new disclosures updates.
  • Support in implementing accounting and reporting solutions as De Nodo and Miles.
Responsibilities

Your main tasks will be to the following:

  • Check the exhaustiveness, completeness and accuracy of data in test or other environment of the above-mentioned projects ensuring the process the data migration and the correct mapping
  • Ensure the compliance with different accounting standards in cooperation with the accounting officers
  • Report findings to CFC staff/other services in charge of the coordination of the projects.
  • Support in analyzing structured problem related to different accounting treatment and in supporting the implementation of the solutions in the relevant IT systems
  • Document, under the supervision of the relevant officer, the identified risk and update the control processes.
  • Support the officers in tracking and reporting the relevant progress in each specific project
Academic qualifications and professional skills
  • Final year of studies or University degree in Finance or Accounting with less than one year of professional experience. Very good knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Very good knowledge of the standard MS office tools (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French any other language will be considered as an advantage.
