The Customer eXperience Impressions (CXI) team within Amazons Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization is seeking a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) with experience building complex Big Data products and depth of analytics/modeling skills, to join us in delivering the insights needed to continuously raise the bar on the shopping experience that Amazon presents to customers worldwide via its online stores.

Our team is responsible for developing data products, generating reports, and deriving science-backed insights to measure the customer experience, supply chain health, and access Amazons ability to fulfill customers shopping needs. As a team within the SCOT org, we are well positioned to develop novel solutions to evolve our supply chain decisions towards improving the customer experience. Our focus is constant innovation for customer benefit. Unlike brick and mortar stores where it is challenging to capture customer interest in a product unless they purchase the item, e-commerce offers the unique advantage of capturing customer shopping impressions even if they dont convert to sales. Our impressions-based products serve as a leading indicators of potential future demand. They allow us to capture a comprehensive set of data points, such as product, price, and delivery speed. This data helps us understand both what we presented to the customer and their subsequent behavior.

As a Principal BIE on the CXI team, you will need to understand what information is valuable to our internal customers, and work with product and engineering teams to design data models that are necessary to extract comprehensive business insights. Given Amazons scale, our systems handle a data load of 170 TB per day and 12 million TPS during peak times. We will rely on your expertise to ensure data quality and to invent solutions that offer business insights. You will serve as the primary contact for customers seeking guidance on using our products.

This is a highly visible role and will require regular interaction and communication with senior leaders. You must have experience and capability to document your work for technical as well as non-technical audiences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a necessity. Successful candidates should excel at diving into data to analyze problems and implement simple, long-term solutions. Candidates should also be able to use data to influence others.   • You will collaborate with product managers to identify the most promising business problems, create a cohesive roadmap that makes the best use of available resources, evangelize product features to our internal customers, accelerate feature adoption, track the realized impacts, and communicate results.

  • Experience with theory and practice of designing experiments/Weblabs and statistical analysis of results
